Dr. White offers consultative, diagnostic evaluations to adults in San Diego, California. If continuing treatment is indicated and conducive to our practice model and setting, a Treatment Plan is developed that may include Medication Management with or without Psychotherapy.

To optimize management of your overall mental health care, Dr. White collaborates treatment planning with therapists and other healthcare providers.  We recognize the importance of the 'goodness of fit' principle as setting a solid foundation for positive outcomes and treatment goals.  With this in mind, we support an efficient process to facilitate connecting you to the psychiatry service that will best meet your individual needs.

Dr. White has experience treating a wide array of psychiatric illnesses, but there are some illnesses that may require referrals to other physicians or therapists in the area. Some examples that will require referrals:

• Active Substance Abuse including alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, designer drugs, etc.

• Eating Disorders  

• Dementia and other issues better suited for GeroPsychiatry

• Couples/Family therapy

In an effort to streamline your care needs, we'll first need to determine if a consultative evaluation with Dr. White is indicated or whether your needs would be best met in an alternate treatment setting or practice model. Typically, the initial evaluation is completed over 1-2 sessions, and medication prescriptions are not done at the end of an initial consultation.

Dr. White is not on any insurance panels (considered an 'out of network' practice), nor contracted with Medicare ('opted out').  We DO NOT ACCEPT or bill insurance, allowing us to provide a highly personalized, more confidential and therapeutic experience, without the limitations imposed by insurance companies.  A'SuperBill' will be available if you wish to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement; we strongly recommend that you verify coverage of both general and TeleHealth visits prior to your appointment.  We do not perform evaluations for 3rd parties (disability, forensic, governmental agency, etc.)
